Farm biosecurity practices are now even more accessible with the new back-pocket friendly Farm Biosecurity for Livestock Producers brochure. The easy to use on-farm brochure has been developed by AHA grazing industries under the Farm Biosecurity program and includes biosecurity tips from a range of producers.
Duncan Rowland, Executive Manager Biosecurity Services at AHA, said that the handy brochure will assist producers to develop practical, easy to implement workable practices to protect their investments.
“Industry wanted the biosecurity manual in a more easily readable format with case studies that can assist the producer on the farm”, he said. “It’s a snapshot of practices that provide the big hits regarding protection.
“The producer case studies emphasise that biosecurity really is everyone’s responsibility and often this means working together with fellow producers. It is an investment to protect their investments and future.”
Simple and effective measures can help protect properties and livestock from disease, pests and weeds. The five key management areas identified in the brochure are farm outputs, farm inputs, people, vehicles and equipment, production practices and ferals, pests and weeds.
