Scholarship for an Australian primary producer

The Farm Biosecurity Program, run by Plant Health Australia and Animal Health Australia, will again support a scholarship for a primary producer to study a topic relevant to on-farm biosecurity.

Nuffield Australia Farming Scholarships are a unique way for primary producers to participate in a life-changing experience, travel overseas and study an agricultural topic of choice.

Each Nuffield Scholarship is valued at $30,000, including one Farm Biosecurity Nuffield Scholarship.

These scholarships allow you to study a subject of interest to you, by visiting and studying farming businesses. Scholars produce a written report and communicate the new knowledge and experience to their fellow scholars, farmers and others.

You don’t need academic qualifications to apply. Scholars are selected on merit, and are typically committed and passionate about farming, at the leading edge of technology uptake, and potential future leaders in their industry.

Applications for 2023 scholarships opened on 21 March 2022. After a round of initial interviews, short-listed candidates will be interviewed in early August, with the final Nuffield National Conference to be held in September 2024.

We urge young farmers with a desire to improve uptake of on-farm biosecurity, and drive their knowledge and businesses forward, to consider applying and prepare an application now.

In addition to applications related to on-farm biosecurity, research topics on education or technical developments that could help producers manage an aspect of on-farm biosecurity will also be considered.

For more information and to apply go to the Nuffield Australia website.

* The scholarship calendar may be subject to changes due to the Covid-19 travel restrictions. Nuffield Australia management will continually communicate with applicants and scholars if changes need to be made.
