How AUSPestCheck® connects systems and data sharing

Operated and maintained by Plant Health Australia (PHA), AUSPestCheck® is a secure, cloud-based environment that brings together plant pest surveillance data from across Australia.

Endorsed by the National Biosecurity Committee, AUSPestCheck® holds over 12 million records from 20 surveillance programs with more than 150 users nationwide. The platform helps participants understand surveillance coverage, identify priority gaps, reduce duplication, and generate evidence to support domestic and international market access.

Recent improvements have strengthened cybersecurity, streamlined data upload workflows, and introduced a protected data sharing container.

AUSPestCheck® offers a trusted, regulated environment that supports safe data sharing and meaningful application, enabling research data to inform real-world biosecurity decision making through Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).

These integrations support more efficient data exchange and help authorised users access and apply surveillance information across multiple platforms.

One example is AUSPestCheck®’s integration with Biosecurity Commons, which enables authorised users to access surveillance information through analytical tools while maintaining appropriate data management and security controls. Together, the platforms help users move from data collection to analysis and decision-making.

Research organisations, surveillance programs and other data custodians are invited to contribute datasets, co-design system enhancements, and help shape Australia’s evolving biosecurity data capability.

By sharing surveillance data through AUSPestCheck®, organisations can contribute to national biosecurity outcomes, support future projects, and strengthen cross-sector collaboration.
